He directly sells plants from the lorry in Germany. The difference of the popularity of the plants per region is enormous. In the former DDR he sells many begonias. In the town of Hamburg they particularly like colored orchids.
Owing to his young age he often does business with young customers. He also likes to comply with the specific wishes of every customer. He also listens attentively to his customers. That is important for him. Sometimes he visits more than twenty customers per day on various locations in Germany.
Piet Crielaard has an enormous knowledge of plants and a lot of experience. He has sold all kinds of plants in Germany for more than 25 years. Nowadays he is still a substitute and performs personal service and carriage for Jaap’s business. He always says with a smile that whether he drives to Germany or back to Holland, he always drives “home.” To maintain a discreet distance and confidence is very important for him in the relation with the customers. In the early nineties he took the plunge and up till now he has seen a big change in the mentality of the customer.
