Customer Roland Troge is the owner of a flower shop. He lives in a small town in the neighborhood of the Baltic Sea in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. He has already done business with Jaap for more than 25 years.
At first with Jaap’s father and soon after with Jaap himself. Many customers come with special wishes to his shop. Many tourists drop in spontaneously because he lives in a pedestrian zone. He also has many customers of the university in the town.
He says that Jaap Rietveld has a good sense of the quality of plants, the needs of the customers and the possibility to offer a wide variety of plants. On Wednesday morning customers drop into his shop to ask if Rietveld has already delivered his new assortment of plants. For him, as owner of the shop, it is important that Jaap has got things straight. Everything is clean and well-presented. That gives confidence. Jaap is an honest and reliable businessman. For that reason he hopes to do business with him for many years to come.
Piet Valstar is responsible for the sale at Nursery Kuivenhoven in Poeldijk. There has already been a long and good relation with Jaap’s wholesale business. Piet says that this is mainly possible, because they have the same attitude. Our intention is to have an A1 quality. That is top quality. It requires much dedication. We develop new plants, which we test extensively to get a new species of plant. Our employees take part in that process. They plant the new species in their private garden to see how the plants perform. We have already done this for more than a hundred years. Kuivenhoven has started a quality program with six other nurserymen , for instance with the top plant Campanula Addenda. That was very successful.
Piet Valstar says that Jaap always likes to make explicit agreements. In this way we have already delivered plants in the correct stage of growth for fifteen years. The plants are delivered in the bud to ensure a longer life. When the plants arrive at the German customer they are always in the right condition.
Piet says that it is pleasant to cooperate with his customer Jaap Rietveld. He is a nice and social man with a targeted approach. We know that the cooperation with his customers is of the utmost importance for him. We talk much about the moment of delivery of the plants, so that Jaap can inform his customers on time, when he can deliver his plants. The customer is very important for Jaap Rietveld. An example is that he came to pick up a small repeat order of 200 hundred plants in his private car. That is a super mentality.
